Latitudinal changes in submarine channel-levee system evolution, architecture and flow processes

چکیده

Models of the sedimentary architecture submarine channel-levee systems and their formative flow processes are predominantly based on studies from low latitude settings. Here, we integrate high-resolution seismic reflection, bathymetry GLORIA side scan data to document interpret a series ultra-high (72–76°N) that feed lobe complexes off Greenland margin. We demonstrate channel-fills dominated by vertical or near-vertical sediment accumulation, reflecting lack of, very limited nature lateral migration over time. All show significant cross-sectional asymmetry, peak sinuosity 1.38, gradient slope (∼0.3°). The bounding external levees thick (∼200 m) wide relative systems. Comparison these with other examples reveals characteristics appear be common in high latitudes, suggesting latitudinal controls differences between high- low-latitude is likely due interplay physical forcing (i.e., Coriolis force) climatic factors control calibre type, both which latitudinally dependent. Several mechanisms for supressing initial phase subsequent asymmetrical development proposed, including:i) rapid channel aggradation, (ii) causing preferred deposition right-hand channel, iii) variance properties, traction- suspension-dominated flows deposited opposing sides channel. argue location larger may result dominance stacking channels, construction large levees, planform.

Architecture-based Analysis of Changes in Information System Evolution

Software is subject to continuous change. Software quality is determined by large extent through architecture which reflects important decisions, e.g. on structure and technology. For sound decision making during evolution change impacts on various system artifacts must be understood. In this paper, we introduce a new evolution scenario (replacing the database) to an established demonstrator fo...

Channel-levee System - the Major Controlling Mechanism for the Sediment Deposition on the Indus Fan

The Indus fan is the most pronounced and extensive physiographic and sedimentary feature of the Arabian Sea as well as it is the second largest submarine fan in the world. It has developed off the passive continental margin of Pakistan and India, covering an area of about 1.1 x10 km which makes it one of the largest sediment bodies in the ocean basins, totalling ~5 x 10 km in volume. The presen...
